Karnataka Congress Leader DK Shivakumar was granted bail by Delhi High Court

NEW DELHI:Karnataka Congress Leader DK Shivakumar walks out of Tihar jail after 50 days on Wednesday evening, After the court order was received in the evening,
he was released following a medical check-up and other formalities.

Shivakumar was booked along with Haumanthaiah an employee at Karnataka Bhavan.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had opposed his bail plea saying he was an influential person and he could tamper with evidence and influence witnesses if released,
According to news agency, Justice Suresh Kait granted bail to the Congress Leader DK Shivakumar and
the judge also said Mr Shivakumar cannot tamper with evidence as the documents are
with the investigating agencies, and there is no material to show he has influenced witnesses,
other conditions laid down by the high court while granting him the relief include not leaving the country with the concerned trial
court’s permission, making himself available for interrogation when required and not to influence the witnesses.

The investigators alleged that Mr Shivakumar had not been paying taxes and made transactions
worth crores of rupees.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, who met Mr Shivakumar in Tihar on Monday, has said Mr Shivakumar was a target of political revenge.

“I have been granted bail. So with all your good wishes and with all the wishes of my party workers and supporters across the country,
I’m back. I want to thank all of you for your support in this hour of crisis,Delhi High Court has granted me bail
I thank all those who have stood solidly with me in the time of crisis,” and
thanked party president Sonia Gandhi for supporting him,”She came all the way here to give me strength”.
